Available for the first time are a selection of four prints made from the thirty-plus digital paintings made towards possible use on My Bloody Valentine’s ‘mbv’ album (2013), which were commissioned but not used. These were created in the computer using Mills’ collection of discarded end frames from 35mm colour transparencies, which had been salvaged from the bins of photo labs. Utilising the chance imperfections that have affected the ends of the film-light leaks and flares, over or underexposure, shutter sync, malfunction, fogging, and environmental or chemical damage, each frame was scanned and layered, undergoing a series of transformative treatments to produce new and original images that Mills felt captured the essence of My Bloody Valentine’s immersive, textured soundscapes and mirrored their unorthodox ways of working.

Hahnemühle Museum Etching is a natural white cotton art paper with an inkjet coating specially optimised for FineArt printing.
